We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Financial Accounting team. This role is ideal for a technically strong accounting professional who enjoys working in a complex, partnership‑based environment and is looking to build a long‑term career within a high‑performing finance function.

Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial information, supporting statutory and management reporting, and contributing to the Firm’s year‑end audit and tax compliance obligations. You’ll bring strong attention to detail, a collaborative mindset and the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders across the business.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver timely and accurate monthly balance sheet and profit & loss reporting, including support for the Corrs Group and PNG operations
  • Prepare the Firm’s annual financial statements and coordinate the year‑end audit with external auditors
  • Support month‑end close activities, including journal preparation, balance sheet reconciliations and P&L analysis
  • Maintain the general ledger, chart of accounts and fixed asset register, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Prepare partner and beneficiary profit allocations, distributions and capital accounts in line with partnership arrangements
  • Manage statutory tax obligations (including GST, FBT and income tax) in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external advisors
  • Review and support the work of junior accountants, providing coaching and guidance as required

Required skills, qualifications and preferred experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or a related discipline
  • Currently studying towards, or fully qualified as a CA or CPA
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior accounting role, ideally within a professional services or partnership environment
  • Strong working knowledge of general accounting principles and direct and indirect tax obligations
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build trusted relationships with partners, senior leaders and wider business stakeholders
  • Highly organised, detail‑oriented and comfortable working to strict deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret partnership deeds and firm policies
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with large or complex general ledger systems (CMS or similar preferred)
  • Professional and discreet in handling confidential and sensitive financial information
