Senior Azure Data Engineer

We’re seeking an Azure Fabric Data Engineer to join a complex, large-scale data transformation programme for one of the region’s most significant enterprises. This is a deep technical delivery role — building and optimising enterprise-grade data pipelines, models, and reporting layers within the Azure ecosystem.

Position overview.

This is a hands-on delivery role – no architecture, no endless design meetings – just building, optimising, and bringing reporting to life for a complex transactional data environment.

Your mission.

• Engineer high-performance data pipelines leveraging Microsoft Fabric’s Data Factory and Dataflows Gen2.
• Design and optimise DirectLake and Data Lakehouse implementations for real-time analytics and batch workloads.
• Develop and maintain semantic models in Power BI with complex DAX for enterprise reporting.
• Implement aggregation layers and surrogate modelling to enhance performance across massive transactional datasets.
• Integrate Azure Synapse Analytics for analytical querying and warehouse workloads.
• Configure OneLake storage, partitioning strategies, and data refresh processes.
• Build robust ETL/ELT frameworks to ingest data from multiple systems, including Dynamics 365 and other ERP/CRM platforms.

Your technical toolkit.

• Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Dataflows Gen2, DirectLake, Data Lakehouse, OneLake) – expert level
• Azure Synapse Analytics – dedicated SQL pools, serverless queries
• Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 – security, folder structures, optimisation
• Power BI Premium – complex modelling, DAX, aggregations, composite models
• Data Modelling – Star/Snowflake schema design, dimensional modelling best practice
• Integration Services – REST APIs, JSON, Delta Lake formats, streaming data ingestion
• Version Control & CI/CD – GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps Pipelines for data deployments
• Performance Tuning – query optimisation, incremental refresh, memory management
• Security – Row-Level Security (RLS), Object-Level Security (OLS), Azure AD integration
