Sales Manager (Utility-Scale BESS) – Australia

Energy Storage | Market Entry Leadership | High-Impact Commercial Role

A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Sales Manager to lead the market entry of a global, tier-1 energy storage business into the Australian utility-scale ESS sector.

This is a high-impact position, offering the chance to build a multi-GW pipeline from scratch while backed by one of the world’s leading battery manufacturers.

About the Role

This is a business development role suited to someone who can operate at both strategic and execution levels. You will take ownership of establishing the company’s grid-scale ESS sales presence in Australia, developing go-to-market strategy, originating projects, and closing complex energy infrastructure deals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead market entry strategy and build a utility-scale ESS pipeline across Australia
  • Originate, structure, and close front-of-the-meter (FTM) BESS projects
  • Establish and grow strategic partnerships with IPPs, developers, EPCs, and system integrators
  • Act as the primary interface with global teams, translating Australian market requirements into commercial and technical inputs
  • Provide insight into grid connection, compliance, and regulatory frameworks (AEMO, GPS, NER)
  • Engage with industry stakeholders and decision-makers to position the business as a key infrastructure partner
  • Build internal capability and influence global strategy for the Australian market

About You

  • 5+ years’ experience selling utility-scale energy projects (BESS, solar, wind) in Australia
  • Proven track record closing large, complex energy deals
  • Strong understanding of NEM regulations and grid connection processes (AEMO, GPS, NER)
  • Established network across IPPs, developers, EPCs, and network operators
  • Ability to operate autonomously in a greenfield environment
  • Experience working across international teams and managing global stakeholders
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate technical concepts into business cases
