  • Build the people platform for a fast-moving mining and mining services operation
  • Hands-on role across workforce mobilisation, recruitment, onboarding and remuneration
  • Practical, fast-moving, commercially minded leader wanted - not a corporate policy role

Our client, a newly established Australian mining business is entering a critical stage of operational readiness, with funding secured, key contracts in place and a clear mandate to move quickly. With both mining, mining services and processing teams to be built, the business now requires a practical people leader to help mobilise the workforce and support the transition into a live operating environment.

This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys building, doing and solving. The immediate priority is workforce mobilisation. The business needs to recruit, onboard and organise a significant operational workforce across site-based processing, plant, mining and support roles, while also putting in place the role descriptions, remuneration frameworks, onboarding processes and basic people infrastructure needed to operate effectively.

This is not a traditional corporate HR or ER role. The business needs a grounded, commercially minded operator who understands that, in this environment, getting the right people into the right roles at the right time is mission critical. It won’t all fall to you, you will have the freedom to hire a recruitment expert in your team, but this role will still be highly tactile.

You will be acritical part of the leadership team who will sit at EXCO to define the workforce plan, build role descriptions, support remuneration and incentive structures, oversee recruitment activity and ensure new employees are onboarded in a way that supports operational performance. You will also play an important role in shaping the practical people systems needed as the business scales from a small team into a fully functioning site-based workforce.

The successful person will need to be comfortable in a fast-moving, imperfect environment where not everything is already built. You will need the confidence to work closely with the CEO and business unit leaders to make decisions, have the judgement to know when to challenge, and the energy to get into the detail. You may not have held a large Head of HR title before, but you will have enough experience in mining, resources, mining services or a related operational environment to understand site roles, rosters, remuneration, recruitment pressure and the realities of workforce mobilisation.

This role would suit an ambitious HR, recruitment or people leader who has been close to operational hiring and wants to step into a broader, more influential leadership role. You may come from a mining contractor, owner-operator, processing environment or resources services business. What matters most is your practicality, urgency, fresh energy, commercial mindset and willingness to roll up your sleeves.

Apply now for a rare opportunity to play a central role in building the people platform behind a significant mining operation. Applications close 20th June 2026. All enquiries can be made to Brian Briscoe through ***email_hidden***, or by calling Briscoe Search on 08 9401 8080.
