Role: Electrical Project Engineer – Substations & Energy Projects
Location: Perth, WA
Rate: $75–$90 p/h + Super (negotiable)
Length: 12 Months
Work Arrangements: Flexible (1–2 days WFH)
The Opportunity
Join a major decarbonisation program delivering large-scale power and transmission infrastructure across WA. This is a unique opportunity to work on 220kV substation projects that directly enable the transition to renewables, while gaining exposure across wind, solar and BESS integration.
This role offers a genuine blend of engineering and project delivery—ideal for engineers looking to step beyond pure design and take ownership of packages, vendors and outcomes.
The Role
Support the delivery of multiple substation packages at various project stages, with responsibilities including:
- Reviewing and influencing electrical designs for 220/33kV substations
- Developing scopes of work, specifications and technical documentation
- Managing vendor packages (HV switchgear, transformers, MV equipment)
- Coordinating procurement, technical queries and evaluations
- Supporting construction, testing and commissioning activities
You’ll work across multiple concurrent projects, giving you variety, visibility and the chance to influence delivery outcomes end-to-end.
What You Bring
- 3–7 years’ experience in substations, utilities, renewables or heavy industry
- Exposure to HV infrastructure, switchgear and power transformers
- Experience in design review, package management or project engineering
- Good understanding of Australian Standards and engineering fundamentals
- Ability to manage vendors, timelines and competing priorities
