This role is a key strategic hire. The organisation is not seeking a traditional, operationally focused Credit Manager, but rather a forward-thinking leader who can design, influence, and elevate credit, collections, and vulnerability frameworks at a strategic level while guiding delivery through internal teams and external partners.
Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will take ownership of the end-to-end credit and collections strategy.
This role is focused on strategy, governance, and optimisation. You will play a central role in shaping policy, driving risk outcomes, and influencing senior stakeholders across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and executing credit risk and collections strategies to minimise bad debt and optimise cash flow
- Leading and managing BPO and external vendor relationships, ensuring performance against key commercial and operational outcomes
- Developing and enhancing credit policy, hardship frameworks, and customer vulnerability programs in line with regulatory requirements
- Partnering closely with Finance on bad debt provisioning, financial reporting, and risk insights
- Driving continuous improvement across credit processes, systems, and controls
- Providing strategic input into customer segmentation, risk profiling, and credit decisioning at point of sale
- Influencing stakeholders across Retail, Finance, Legal, and Operations to deliver business-wide improvements
- Ensuring adherence to regulatory, compliance, and customer protection frameworks within the energy sector
Profile
You are a commercially minded and strategically focused credit leader who thrives in complex, regulated environments.
- Proven experience in a senior credit leadership role
- Deep expertise across end-to-end credit and collections, including hardship and vulnerability frameworks
- Strong track record in policy development, governance, and strategic transformation
- Demonstrated experience managing outsourced or offshore delivery models (BPO environments)
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at executive level
- A strategic mindset, with a clear ability to move beyond BAU and drive innovation and change
- Experience within energy sector will be advantageous
