Role
The Business Analyst role provides focused business analysis support to a defined piece of work within the department’s regulatory operations, specifically relating to the management of Certificate of Electrical Safety (COES) audit contracts.
The role is responsible for capturing and documenting the in-house processes that inform and deliver the allocation of work under COES audit contracts, building a clear and consistent view of how these processes operate in practice
Accountabilities
- Lead the end-to-end mapping of current COES contract management processes, capturing all stages of the lifecycle including certificate distribution, work allocation, audit delivery, data handling and close-out
- Document processes in a structured and consistent manner, including roles, responsibilities, decision points, system interactions and data flows, ensuring outputs are clear and usable
- Engage with stakeholders across Regulatory Operations and Electrical Installation Safety to elicit detailed process information through workshops, interviews and direct observation
- Validate process maps and supporting documentation with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy, completeness and a shared understanding of current practices
- Capture variations in process execution, including differences across teams, informal practices and dependencies between functions, to provide a comprehensive view of how work is undertaken in practice
- Develop a structured view of resource requirements to support current and future COES contract delivery.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience in Process Mapping and Documentation is a must.
- Demonstrated experience in business analysis, with a strong focus on business process mapping and documentation in complex operational environments
- Proven ability to capture and document end-to-end processes, including roles, responsibilities, decision points, system interactions and data flows, in a clear and structured manner
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills including experience facilitating workshops and interviews, and working with subject matter experts.
- Ability to identify process improvement opportunities, including reducing duplication, addressing bottlenecks and recommending practical changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness
