Overview

One of Australia’s leading financial institutions has partnered with Elevate and is seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer to support a key transformation initiative within the organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic, in-house legal environment, providing employment law advice on a large-scale payroll platform transformation project. The role will see you partner closely with legal, HR, and project stakeholders to ensure employment law considerations are effectively managed throughout the lifecycle of the initiative.

About the Role

As part of a high-performing legal team, you will provide pragmatic and commercially focused employment law advice across a range of issues arising from changes to payroll systems, processes, and employee frameworks.

The role will require close collaboration with HR and business teams, supporting them through the legal implications of system implementation, employee entitlements, and workforce-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide employment law advice in relation to payroll-related matters, including employee entitlements, awards, and compliance considerations
  • Support the rollout of a new payroll platform by advising on legal risks and implications associated with process and system changes
  • Partner with HR and project teams to manage employee-related issues arising during the implementation phase
  • Assist with reviewing and aligning employment policies, contracts, and frameworks impacted by payroll changes
  • Support the management of employment-related queries, disputes, or escalations linked to payroll and remuneration matters
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders across legal, HR, and business teams to ensure consistent and practical advice
  • Contribute to project deliverables, including documentation, risk assessments, and stakeholder updates

Profile

  • 6+ years post-admission experience as an employment lawyer (in-house or private practice).
  • Strong advisory experience across employment matters, ideally with exposure to payroll, remuneration, or workforce projects
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Pragmatic, solutions-oriented, and able to provide clear and commercially focused advice
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting payroll transformation or HR systems implementations
  • Exposure to large-scale organisations or regulated environments
  • Familiarity with employee entitlements, awards, or remediation projects
