About the role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Shift Supervisor to lead frontline Safer Community operations and support the safety, wellbeing and security of the Curtin community.

As a Shift Supervisor, you will provide leadership and direction to a team of Safer Community Officers while overseeing day-to-day operations across campus. You will coordinate responses to safety, security and wellbeing incidents, support emergency management activities, and ensure a high standard of customer service and operational delivery.

This role combines traditional security leadership responsibilities with a strong people-focused and wellbeing-centred approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise and support a team of Safer Community Officers during rostered shifts
  • Conduct shift briefings and coordinate the deployment of staff across campus
  • Oversee the Communications Centre, including monitoring CCTV, access control, fire alarm and communication systems
  • Coordinate responses to safety, security and wellbeing incidents
  • Provide leadership and direction during emergency and critical incidents
  • Ensure appropriate escalation and notification processes are implemented
  • Liaise with emergency services and relevant University stakeholders
  • Review, prepare and maintain accurate incident reports and operational records
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational development

Who we are looking for: -

  • Completion of a Certificate level IV or higher in security operations by a recognised security training company and extensive relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supervising staff
  • Experience coordinating responses to incidents and emergencies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership, coaching and team development abilities
  • Advanced conflict resolution and crisis management skills
  • Strong report writing and administrative skills

Understanding of wellbeing support, crisis intervention or trauma-informed practices is highly regarded

Role Requirements

  • WA Drivers Licence
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Mental Health First Aid Certificate (desirable)
  • This working days for this position are Monday to Friday, with no shift work required
  • As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role
