About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Finance Officer to join our team and take a lead role in managing and enhancing our financial transaction processes. This is a key position that supports the day-to-day financial operations across our Faculties and Support areas while contributing to broader process improvement and compliance initiatives.

In this dynamic role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing transactional finance activities, providing expert advice to internal and external stakeholders, and supporting the development of internal procedures and training materials. You will also have the opportunity to expand your skills in areas such as tax compliance (including FBT and BAS), fixed asset management, and account reconciliations.

To succeed, you’ll need strong analytical and problem-solving skills, intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. This role also involves project coordination and supporting team leadership to foster a high-performing, customer-focused culture.

Role responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end financial transactions and ensure timely, accurate processing.
  • Monitor and review transactional activity to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement and maintain internal procedures, controls, and training documentation.
  • Assist with tax compliance processes, including Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) and monthly BAS lodgements.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and support balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Support the Team Leader by coordinating projects, providing guidance, and promoting a customer-focused, high-performing team culture.
  • Manage and process financial transactions across designated support areas.
  • Provide professional financial advice to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and perform accurate account reconciliations.
  • Contribute to team projects and lead specific finance-related initiatives.

Who we are looking for

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Experience leading or contributing to finance projects.
  • A keen eye for process improvement and attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in a similar finance role is highly regarded.

This fixed term G05 level role attracts a remuneration of $83,283 - $91,103 + 17% Superannuation.

Role Requirements

  • As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role
