Linux Administrator – Foundations SOI Integration Services

Role Title: Linux Administrator – Integration Platform Infrastructure

Location: Australia (Hybrid)

Key Responsibilities

Linux Infrastructure Administration

• Administer, maintain and support Linux-based infrastructure supporting integration platforms, middleware services and application environments.
• Ensure Linux environments are stable, secure and available to support project delivery and operational requirements.
• Monitor system health, capacity and performance across multiple environments.
• Perform routine system administration activities, patching and maintenance.

Server Installation & Configuration

• Install, configure and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers.
• Build and configure Linux environments in accordance with approved architecture and security standards.
• Support platform provisioning, server hardening and operating system configuration.
• Maintain environment consistency across Development (DEV), System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Production (PROD) environments.

User Access & Security Administration

• Manage user accounts, roles, permissions and access controls.
• Implement least-privilege and security best practices.
• Manage authentication and authorization configurations.
• Support audit, compliance and security review activities.

Networking & Firewall Management

• Configure and maintain Linux networking services.
• Support firewall configuration and network access management.
• Troubleshoot connectivity issues impacting integration platforms and middleware services.
• Work closely with infrastructure and security teams to ensure compliance with network security requirements.

Middleware & Platform Support

• Support deployment and operation of middleware and integration platform components.
• Assist with environment configuration and validation activities.
• Work closely with platform administrators, developers and architects to ensure infrastructure readiness.
• Support platform installation and configuration activities across trust zones and application environments.

Backup & Disaster Recovery

• Implement and manage backup and recovery processes for Linux infrastructure.
• Support disaster recovery planning, testing and validation activities.
• Ensure critical systems can be restored efficiently following operational incidents.
• Maintain backup documentation and recovery procedures.

System Monitoring & Troubleshooting

• Monitor system availability, performance and operational health.
• Investigate and troubleshoot operating system, infrastructure and middleware-related issues.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 operational support for critical incidents.

DevOps & CI/CD Support

• Support CI/CD-enabled delivery and deployment processes.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration activities.
• Assist in maintaining environment promotion processes and deployment automation.
• Support infrastructure changes through controlled deployment pipelines.
• Contribute to infrastructure automation and continuous improvement initiatives. The SOI program emphasizes automated deployment and DevOps-enabled delivery approaches.

Documentation & Operational Readiness

• Maintain infrastructure documentation, operational procedures and support runbooks.
• Document environment configurations, security settings and operational processes.
• Support operational readiness, production deployment and knowledge transfer activities.
• Ensure infrastructure configurations are traceable and support audit requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

Linux Administration

• Strong hands-on experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale Linux infrastructure.
• Expertise in operating system installation, configuration, patching and maintenance.
• Strong understanding of Linux services, processes and system administration.

System & Infrastructure Management

• Experience managing multi-environment infrastructure landscapes.
• Strong understanding of server administration, resource management and capacity planning.
• Experience supporting middleware and application hosting environments.
• Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery concepts.

Security & Compliance

• Strong understanding of Linux security best practices.
• Experience implementing:
• User access controls
• Privileged access management
• Security hardening
• Firewall configurations
• Secure system configurations
• Understanding of enterprise security patterns and operational controls.

Networking

• Strong knowledge of:
• TCP/IP networking
• DNS
• Routing
• Network troubleshooting
• Linux firewall technologies
• Experience investigating infrastructure and connectivity issues within complex enterprise environments.

DevOps & Automation

Experience or familiarity with:

• CI/CD pipelines
• Infrastructure automation
• Configuration management
• Deployment automation
• Git-based workflows

Exposure to tools such as:

• Red Hat Ansible
• Terraform
• Azure DevOps
• Jenkins
• GitHub Actions
• GitLab CI/CD

SOI delivery approach references infrastructure automation and DevOps tooling including Red Hat Ansible and Terraform.

Troubleshooting & Support

• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic capabilities.
• Experience supporting production environments and critical systems.
• Ability to perform root-cause analysis and incident resolution.
• Strong operational support and stakeholder communication skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting integration platforms, middleware or enterprise application environments.
• Exposure to API gateways, ESBs, messaging platforms and managed file transfer solutions.
• Experience working within Energy, Utilities, Government or other highly regulated sectors.
• Familiarity with secure and segregated network environments and critical infrastructure platforms.
