About FACEF

The French Australian Cultural Exchange Foundation (FACEF) is a charitable not-for-profit organisation and the first cultural diplomacy initiative of its kind between Australia, France and the French Overseas Territories in the Indo-Pacific.

Established to strengthen cultural exchange and artistic collaboration between France and Australia, FACEF supports innovative cultural initiatives, artist residencies, partnerships and public programs that foster mutual understanding and long-term engagement between the two countries.

Role overview

FACEF is seeking a highly organised and proactive Development & Engagement Coordinator. The successful candidate will play an important role in nurturing relationships with donors, patrons and partners while helping deliver high-quality events, communications and administrative support across the Foundation.

Reporting to the General Manager, this role is suited to a candidate with at least five years' relevant experience who enjoys working in a new dynamic organisation and is passionate about the arts, philanthropy and international cultural exchange. This role is ideal for someone who wants to grow with the organization and contribute to its long-term success.

Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder engagement and development

  • Maintain and manage stakeholder databases, CRM systems and organisational records.
  • Support donor, patron and corporate partnerships, including Le Cercle des Amis.
  • Prepare and coordinate donor communications, brochures, acknowledgements and engagement activities.
  • Conduct research on prospective donors, foundations and funding opportunities.
  • Contribute to website updates, social media content, and digital communications for patrons.

Events, trips and patron relations

  • Coordinate donor events, trips, patron experiences and stakeholder receptions.
  • Manage invitations, registrations, RSVPs and guest communications.
  • Liaise with venues, caterers, suppliers and service providers.
  • Contribute to post-event reporting and follow-up engagement activities.

Administration and Operations

  • Coordinate meetings, agendas, minutes and follow-up actions, including External Stakeholder Engagement sub-committee.
  • Assist in preparing grant applications, acquittals and impact reports.

Selection criteria

  • Professional working proficiency in French (written and spoken).
  • Minimum five years’ experience in stakeholder engagement, fundraising, philanthropy, project coordination or a related field, preferably within the arts, cultural or not-for-profit sector.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a small team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/database management systems (Odoo or similar would be an advantage).
  • High levels of professionalism, discretion and cultural sensitivity.
  • A genuine interest in the arts, philanthropy and the Australian philanthropic landscape.
