The Role

In order to support our continued growth, we are seeking applications from detail-focused Payroll professionals with experience in an engineering consulting environment to join a supportive, inclusive, friendly, and collaborative team in our Perth office on a permanent full-time basis.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, This role is responsible for end‑to‑end Australian payroll, timekeeping and invoicing support. You will process payroll, review and follow up monthly timesheets, support invoice preparation, and prepare payroll tax returns across relevant jurisdictions.

  • End‑to‑end processing of Australian payroll
  • Coordinating payroll payments for employees who live and work overseas
  • Reviewing and validating monthly timesheets; following up missing or inaccurate entries
  • Assisting with invoice preparation (checking timesheet data and invoicing schedules)
  • Maintaining employee records (new starters, changes, terminations)
  • Preparing and submitting payroll tax returns and related reconciliations
  • Calculating and processing leave and other payroll adjustments
  • Reconciling payroll, superannuation and other statutory obligations
  • Assisting with workers’ compensation renewals
  • Responding to payroll and timesheet queries in a professional and timely manner

Our Ideal Candidate

To excel in this role, you will have the following:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an end‑to‑end payroll role
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, superannuation, leave and payroll tax
  • Experience preparing and lodging payroll tax returns (multi‑state preferred)
  • Experience in a timesheet‑driven environment (professional services or similar preferred)
  • Confident following up staff and managers on timesheet completion and corrections
  • Proficient with payroll systems and intermediate Excel skills
  • High attention to detail, strong organisational skills and able to work independently
  • Clear communicator with an employee‑focused and confidential
