DevOps Engineer
Horizon Digital
Location: Perth, Western Australia
Workplace: Hybrid
Engagement: Contract, full time
We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to help a major Perth-based resources company build the internal platform that powers its engineering teams. You will get real hands on time with Kubernetes, Terraform, and GitHub Actions, building the golden paths and guardrails that let engineering squads ship products safely and fast, across cloud, OT, and edge environments. If you would rather build the platform than firefight around it, we want to hear from you.
The Project
This engagement sits inside a Tier 1 resources business's platform team, which runs the platform as an internal product. The team builds reusable capabilities, automation, and guardrails so engineering squads can deliver independently and safely, rather than reinventing infrastructure project by project. You will own defined platform components, working closely with senior engineers on design and delivery, and partnering across engineering, infrastructure, networking, security, and operations.
What You Will Do
- Build and maintain internal platform capabilities that speed up delivery and cut cognitive load for engineering teams
- Deploy, operate, and troubleshoot workloads on Kubernetes, OpenShift, or managed Kubernetes across cloud, OT, and edge environments
- Build and improve CI/CD workflows using GitHub and GitHub Actions, and automate provisioning and deployment using Terraform
- Implement observability across platform capabilities, including metrics, logs, traces, alerts, and dashboards
- Create runbooks, operational documentation, and reusable templates that help teams self serve
- Partner with networking, security, and infrastructure teams to keep the platform secure, compliant, and supportable
What We Are Looking For
- Hands on experience building or operating platform capabilities in a DevOps, SRE, cloud, or platform engineering role
- Practical experience deploying and operating workloads on Kubernetes, OpenShift, or managed Kubernetes
- AWS experience with cloud native services, and an awareness of networking, security, and cost trade offs
- Infrastructure as Code experience, Terraform preferred
- CI/CD experience using GitHub and GitHub Actions, or comparable tooling
- Coding ability in Python, TypeScript, Bash, or Go
- Linux administration and troubleshooting across RHEL, Ubuntu, or similar distributions
Desirable Background
- Experience with developer portals, service catalogues, or internal developer platform tooling
- Exposure to OT, edge, or network segregated environments
- Familiarity with AI/ML workloads, data intensive applications, or research engineering workflows
- Exposure to policy as code, platform governance, or FinOps practices
- Familiarity with DORA, SPACE, or other developer productivity measures
Why Horizon Digital
- Join a Perth-based AI and custom software consultancy working with Tier One Australian enterprises
- Get hands on with a mature internal platform team, not a greenfield side project
- Work alongside senior engineers on design and delivery from day one
- Contract engagement, Perth-based with hybrid flexibility
