Our Perth Hub is one of Newmont’s regional corporate offices for Asia Pacific, serving as the coordination centre for our Australian and Papua New Guinea operations. Your Role – Engineer, Control Systems Projects

As an Engineer Control Systems Projects you’ll support the design and technical delivery of control systems projects across Newmont’s existing brownfield operations and new greenfield projects. You’ll help implement global technical standards, address control systems obsolescence, and contribute to safe, reliable and standardised project outcomes across Newmont’s fixed plant control systems community.

As part of our team, you will

• Support the design and technical delivery of control systems projects in line with Newmont’s global technical standards and specifications
• Develop and assess control systems architectures, equipment selections, Functional Design Specifications, Detailed Design Specifications, project scope clarifications and test procedures.
• Help deliver global standardisation and obsolescence mitigation projects across existing operations and future projects.
• Identify, assess and report engineering, execution and operational risks, including options to mitigate risks to cost, schedule, production and execution.
• Work closely with site teams, Value Assurance, Supply Chain, Contracts, IT and other internal stakeholders to support effective project delivery.
• Contribute to Newmont’s global fixed plant control systems community by sharing and applying standard methodologies and lessons learned.
• Demonstrate proactive leadership and a strong commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, sustainable development and technical regulatory compliance.

Prerequisites for your success in this role

• Degree qualification in a relevant engineering discipline such as Instrument and Control, Electronic, Electrical, Mechatronics or Chemical Engineering.
• Extensive applied experience in project roles within mining, material handling, oil and gas, refining or comparable continuous process environments.
• Strong understanding of control systems design, implementation and support, including experience with large-scale continuous process plants.
• Familiarity with Yokogawa Centum VP and/or Emerson DeltaV DCS and Safety Systems.
• Familiarity with Rockwell ControlLogix and Schneider Modicon PLC systems.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools such as Microsoft Project and AutoCAD.
• Practical understanding of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) / Operational Technology (OT) cybersecurity principles and frameworks with experience integrating network security, access control, and defense-in-depth strategies into DCS and PLC architecture designs.
• Strong communication, negotiation, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work effectively in multicultural and global team environments.
• Experience developing complex scopes of work, implementing safety and risk mitigation strategies, and working with multi-discipline project teams.

Your work environment

This position may be office-based or hybrid, working from Newmont’s Perth Hub in Subiaco. The role may require domestic and international travel, and flexible hours may be required to support the global nature of the work.
