Your New Role

We are seeking a 12-month part-time Senior Payroll Officer to support the maintenance and development of payroll processes and systems, helping optimise payroll processing for the Fund. Reporting to the Global Payroll Manager, you will work closely with external payroll providers, the Australian payroll team and internal stakeholders to support accurate, timely and compliant payroll operations.

This role will suit someone with strong payroll systems knowledge, vendor management experience and a continuous improvement mindset. You will play a key role in supporting payroll process uplift, system configuration, reporting, compliance and stakeholder engagement across Finance, People and Culture, Tax and other teams.

Key duties include but are not limited to;

  • Work closely with outsourced payroll providers across regions, managing vendor relationships, service forums, SLAs, costs and issue resolution.
  • Manage third-party risk in line with the Fund’s Risk Management Framework, including risk identification, reporting and incident management.
  • Review payroll processes and provide recommendations to improve, enhance and streamline payroll operations.
  • Source, review and action payroll process improvements identified by Payroll, Finance and People and Culture teams.
  • Support documentation of payroll processes, including new and existing processes and system configuration.
  • Execute User Acceptance Testing for system and process changes, identifying and escalating defects where required.
  • Support payroll system uplift, configuration updates and modifications to improve controls and meet legislative and enterprise agreement requirements.
  • Extract payroll and HRIS data for audit, reporting and analysis, ensuring data is complete, accurate and delivered within agreed timeframes.

What You’ll Need

  • Experience in payroll or HR transformation, including process improvement and system uplift.
  • Experience designing, supporting or executing User Acceptance Testing and system testing activities.
  • Strong capability in HR or payroll system design, configuration, maintenance or optimisation .
  • Ability to communicate complex payroll concepts clearly to a diverse audience.
  • Competence and experience using and maintaining payroll packages.
  • Working knowledge of relevant payroll and superannuation legislation and Acts.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify materially incorrect data or analysis and work through solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to coordinate tasks, set priorities, work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Experience in financial or professional services, exposure to Human Resource practice, knowledge of the superannuation industry, experience driving and implementing change, APA certification or systems, finance or HR qualifications will be highly regarded.
