Are you currently studying Quantity Surveying and looking to gain practical industry experience while completing your degree?
We are seeking a motivated and ambitious 3rd or 4th Year Quantity Surveying Cadet to join our growing Melbourne-based consultancy. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and Directors, gaining valuable exposure to a diverse range of construction projects while continuing your university studies.
Based in our Melbourne CBD office, this hybrid role is designed to support your academic commitments, with flexibility for university attendance and study requirements.
About the Role
As a Quantity Surveying Cadet, you will work closely with senior team members and assist in the delivery of professional quantity surveying and cost management services across a variety of projects.
This role is designed to help you develop the technical knowledge, practical experience and professional skills required to become an independent Quantity Surveyor.
Key Responsibilities
You will assist with:
- Cost planning and cost management services
- Preparation of fee proposals and project documentation
- Reviewing drawings and specifications using industry software including CostX
- Quantity take-offs and measurement of building works
- Site inspections and project reporting
- Assessment of contractor progress claims
- Review of variation and extension of time claims
- Project administration and maintenance of project records through Uniphi
- Preparation for and attendance at client and project meetings
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients and project stakeholders
- Supporting project delivery activities to ensure deadlines and quality standards are achieved
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Current enrolment in a Bachelor of Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or equivalent degree
- Completion of at least 2 years of study (currently in 3rd or 4th year)
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- A genuine interest in construction cost management and quantity surveying
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn and strong work ethic
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Australian working rights
- A current full Australian driver's licence (mandatory)
Exposure to CostX, Uniphi or similar industry software will be highly regarded but is not essential.
